HSK Trial Stories (Self Accessment) FROM UAT

Twenty short HSK 2 stories, that you can use to see if the level that you have choosen is appropriate. The stories have the same structure as the daily stories and allow you to self check. (we do not grade you) If too easy, you might want too move up a level, if too difficult, move down…

The rule of thumb for extensive reading is: one level lower than the level you are currently on. (The goal is repeating what you know, and consolidate that knowledge.)

The stories practice everyday situations with longer sentences and more detail than HSK 1. Topics include friends and hobbies, cooking and hosting, commuting, rainy-day routines, language learning, hospital visits, travel, workplace introductions, sports, library study, teachers, neighborhood life, festivals, interviews, habits, cafés, and dreams.

Each day aims to build reading fluency and reinforce common HSK 2 vocabulary in context. Use the study tabs to review key words and grammar, then use the exercises to check comprehension. By the end, you should feel comfortable with simple paragraphs and routine conversations.

Grammar Overview

Across the stories you will review core HSK 1 patterns and add common HSK 2 grammar such as comparisons with “比”, the “是…的” construction, and action progress with “着”. You will also see expanded connectors and adverbs such as “不仅…还…”, “先…再…”, “一边…一边…”, “越来越…”, “就”, and “还”. Several stories include complements and results (e.g., finishing or improving) and more flexible time and location phrases. These grammar points align with widely listed HSK 2 grammar targets and typical A2-level Chinese usage.
