Zhang Wei, a first-time flyer, goes to the airport with his friend Li Na. He learns about check-in procedures, different types of luggage, and asks for a window seat.

First Time Checking In
Zhang Wei is flying for the first time. He arrives at the airport with his friend Li Na. They first go to check in. Zhang Wei looks at the flight information on the big screen while looking for their airline counter. Li Na tells him their flight number is CA123 and they should go to counter area C now. Zhang Wei sees many people and feels a bit nervous.
While they are in line, Li Na shows Zhang Wei her passport and ticket. Zhang Wei also takes out his passport. Then, they reach the front of the counter. Airport staff member Mr. Chen is very friendly. Zhang Wei gives him his passport, and Mr. Chen checks the computer.
Mr. Chen asks, “How many bags do you have to check?” Zhang Wei doesn’t understand. Li Na explains that checked baggage is larger than carry-on luggage and cannot be taken into the cabin. Zhang Wei has one large suitcase and one small backpack. Finally, they check the large suitcase.
Zhang Wei receives his boarding pass and is very happy. He asks Mr. Chen, “Can I have a window seat?” Mr. Chen says yes. Zhang Wei’s seat is 12A. Li Na’s seat is 12B. They now need to go through security. Zhang Wei wonders what the difference is between security and customs.
Their flight CA123 departs from Beijing and takes off on time, arriving in Shanghai. The boarding gate is number 15, and they wait in the departure lounge. Li Na says if the flight is delayed, they will make an announcement. Zhang Wei hopes everything goes smoothly and the plane lands on time.
