New Customers at the Restaurant

Wang Wei likes going to restaurants to eat. Today, he is going to a famous Chinese restaurant. Because the restaurant is very busy, he needs to wait for a while. Waitress Auntie Chen is very friendly. She asks Wang Wei, ‘How many people?’ Wang Wei says, ‘Two, please give me a table by the window.’ Auntie Chen says, ‘Okay, please follow me.’

Wang Wei sits by the table. He first looks at the menu. There are many dishes and drinks on the menu. He wants to order fish and rice, and also wants to drink beer. But, his friend hasn’t arrived yet, so he drinks tea first. Chef Li in the kitchen is cooking. The dishes he makes are very delicious.

At this time, a foreign customer walks into the restaurant. She is American student Sarah. Sarah looks at the menu, but she doesn’t understand Chinese. She is a little anxious because she doesn’t know what to order. Other customers in the restaurant are happily eating and chatting.

Waitress Auntie Chen sees Sarah. She walks over and asks, ‘Hello, do you need help?’ Sarah says, ‘Yes, thank you. I can’t read the menu.’ Auntie Chen smiles and says, ‘It’s okay, I can help you. What do you want to eat?’ Sarah says, ‘I want to eat chicken, and also rice.’ Auntie Chen says, ‘Okay, please wait a moment.’

Wang Wei’s friend Zhang Ming arrives. They are very happy to meet. Zhang Ming says, ‘Sorry, I’m late.’ Wang Wei says, ‘It’s okay. I have already looked at the menu, we can order now.’ They call the waitress and order fish, chicken, rice, and beer. They chat while waiting for the food.
